Ingredients Matter

Quite simply, what you put on your skin is just as important as what you put in your body.

Studies show that up to 60% or more of what you put on your skin can be absorbed into your bloodstream. With the possibility of that kind of absorption I think it’s safe to say what you put on your skin is just as important as what you eat.

I don’t know about you but I am quite particular about the food I eat. After working for one of the top 20 alternative doctors in the country for 4 very busy educational years and currently studying to be a holistic nutritionist I am very conscious about the food I eat and what I put on my skin.

Avoiding toxic products will help to relieve the burden your already overworked liver has to deal with. Our bodies are overwhelmed with environmental toxins, stress, infections and foods that are covered in pesticides. Unfortunately, many of these pesticide laden foods also lack the much needed nutrients we need to keep our bodies functioning optimally.

Avoiding toxic chemicals is an excellent choice. Especially if you want to achieve optimal health. Sometimes we find our health compromised, and reducing the toxins in our life can significantly increase your body’s ability to heal.

Are you looking for the best natural body products?

Here are a few I’ve created that may interest you 🙂

Siphon Draw Apothecary has a lot to offer.

We’re not concerned with the cost of our ingredients as much as we are concerned with the quality and health promoting benefits.
Natural is a term thrown around loosely these days. Did you know that the original natural flavor found in many foods is actually fluid from the anal glands of beaver butt?
Nice huh? Many companies use natural ingredients but that doesn’t mean these “natural” ingredients are the best choices for ingesting or applying topically.
Whole Organic Foods and eating clean is a great part of the equation to achieve optimal health.
I want body products that do the same, don’t you? Well, I have you covered.
All of our creations live up to these expectations. We use natural ingredients that are sourced ethically, organic and non GMO. You will never find fragrances, perfumes, chemicals or dyes in our products. No weird stuff allowed. No fillers or ingredients mixed in the middle of the good stuff.

That’s something that really gets under my skin. When a product has many really great ingredients and then they add a few toxic ones. Most people don’t know the difference between health promoting ingredients and harmful toxic ingredients. To say the least, it can be misleading.
I don’t mess around. If the ingredient isn’t pure, natural and health promoting I don’t use it.

We can find plenty of products out there using petroleum, parabens, dyes and other recipe extending, profit margin meeting ingredients.
I offer something else entirely. The goal with every recipe is to heal while causing no harm.
Then I get creative and fun with it!

Hot Chocolate – My Remedy Tonight

3 hot choc cups

I prefer to keep all things that I eat or drink as nutritious as possible. I like to challenge myself to see just how many nutrients I can pack into everything I make.

Tonight I’m COLD!

It’s Arizona. It’s been so hot for so long…..

Now winter is here and I’m freezing. It’s that chilled to the bone type of cold. I want to just go home, get my warmest coziest pj’s on and crawl under the covers.

What will I drink tonight? I always drink organic herbal tea, always will 🙂 but I want something different tonight. I’m feeling festive for the season. So it’s gonna be Hot Chocolate.

santa cup hot choc

This Hot Chocolate has to be potent. It has to taste Delicious and it has to give me the nutrients needed to keep my immune system strong this time of year.

So here’s what I came up with that is currently a success in the Sinclair house.

  • (before you start)  Be sure your ingredients are Organic

hot choc ingredients

Hot Chocolate

Recipe:

  • 1 cup Homemade Almond Milk
  • 1 tablespoon raw cacao
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Powdered Ginger
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric
  • 1 tsp Goji Berry Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Blueberry Powder
  • 1 tsp Raw Pure Local Honey

Heat all ingredients above until Hot, mixing well as it heats up. Pour it into a cup and drink it. 🙂

So it’s not rocket science. It’s simple to do and you can add, delete or exchange the ingredients for others if compelled.

The ingredients that are most important to this recipe are  Milk and Cacao. Sweetener if desired.

There are some really great health benefits to each and every one of the ingredients above. Here’s just a little bit about that. I suggest learning more by doing your own research too.

Almond Milk – Magnesium (very important mineral that helps to relax the muscles in your body and helps to improve blood flow), Potassium (an electrolyte that helps with nerve transmission and is essential for maintaining normal blood pressure and heart function) , Vitamin E (super anti-oxidant that helps to fight and neutralize the free radicals that attempt to harm you)

Cacao –  Protein (build and repair all structure in your body), Anti-oxidants that protect you, Flavonoids that help your cardiovascular system and can decrease LDL deposits.

Cinnamon – Can lower blood sugar levels, Anti-Inflammatory, Loaded with Anti-Oxidants

Ginger – Phenolic compounds of ginger are best known for their effectiveness in resolving stomach issues such as nausea, fights inflammation.

Turmeric – Powerful anti-inflammatory (curcumin is thought to be the primary pharmacology agent in turmeric, studies show it to be comparable to potent drugs such as hydrocortisone and over the counter Motrin)

Goji Berry Powder – used in traditional Chinese Medicine for years, Boost the immune system, protect eyes and an excellent source of Vitamin C

Blueberry Powder – whole body Anti-Oxidant support, Phytonutrients

Raw Pure Local Honey – Helps digestive issues, soothes a sore throat, research shows Raw Pure honey to be as effective as a common over the counter cough medicine ingredient, dextromethorpan.

Organic Food is Medicine

What’s a great way to get important nutrients into your body? Juicing is a champion at that.

Fresh pressed juice.
All Organic (ALWAYS ORGANIC)

Juicing pesticides is a bad idea when using food as medicine. Actually it’s just not a good idea ever.

Pictured below is my lineup of juice.

Green juice – lots of spinach and celery, a couple carrots, 1 lemon, ginger and turmeric

Red juice – carrots, red beet, gold beet, 1 lime

Yellow juice – lemons, ginger, turmeric and filtered water

Lots of goodness here.
My energy is usually great but when I don’t get the right fuel in my body I can feel my energy plummet.
Juicing is such a fantastic way to get the vitamins and minerals your body needs. It will help to alkalize my body, clean my blood, get the toxins out.
All that means energy 😍

Drinking out of glass is the way to go.
When I buy a drink in a glass container I will wash it up and save it. These jars were re-purposed.

Fresh juice, green, red, lemon

This Is my Omega Juicer. It’s a masticating juicer so it presses the juice nice and slow.

All juicers are better than no juicer but the different methods will determine how long the beneficial nutrients stay nice and potent in your fresh pressed juice. Mine is good for several days.
